Check out our practical recipe for a delicious side dish that you can easily prepare in the microwave.

Ingredients

  • 250 grams of Sardeon asparagus
  • 2 tablespoons of butter or olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of flour
  • 1 cup of milk or cream
  • Salt and black pepper
  • Grated cheddar or Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Freshly chopped parsley or dill (optional for serving)

Instructions

  • Cut off the ends of the asparagus stalks and cut into thin slices.
  • Add butter to a microwave-safe bowl and melt on the low setting. If you are using olive oil, skip this step.
  • Add the flour to the melted butter or olive oil and microwave on low setting for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  • Then add the milk or cream and mix thoroughly.
  • Add the asparagus slices into this mixture, sprinkle with salt and pepper, then stir.
  • Cook in the microwave on medium-low setting, stirring occasionally to make sure the cream does not curdle.
  • Check the consistency of the sauce once the cooking time is over and if it is too thick, you can add more milk or cream.
  • Before serving, you can optionally add grated cheddar or Parmesan cheese and garnish with freshly chopped parsley or dill.
  • Serve hot.
  • You can serve it alongside toasted baguette or use it as pasta sauce.
